       Nerf N-Strike Longstrike CS-6 Dart Blaster - May 02, 2010

As with all the previous Nerf products we have purchased for our grandson, this one pleased him to the max. He especially likes that he can interchange the parts with his other blasters to create his own version of the N-Strike. Although he will have outgrown the Nerf products by Christmas, they will remain a happy part of his childhood. He may store and give them to his own children one day. Also, each Nerf product through the years has served some educational purposes, such as organizational and social skills (storing the "bullets" so as to have them readily available later, designing new versions of each product and learning the proper use of tools in the process, target practice - he is now a Scout with awards in target shooting and bow and arrow - and sharing the items while enjoying playtime with friends and siblings).

       Great toy. - Apr 16, 2010

Aesthetically pleasing. I haven't had a misfire yet. However, the range is not what it could be. The barrel actually lowers the range by quite a bit. Fun action though and as I said, pretty to look at.

Big kids like nerf too - Apr 15, 2010

Last November, I bought a bunch of Nerf Mavericks for a friends 21st birthday, between Nerf hide-and-go-seek and Nerf roulette it was a huge success. Since then we have had spontaneous Nerf wars break out, and many of us have gotten other Nerf guns and the fun has continued. As a result I have tested every nerf gun available, this is by far my favorite (especially when coupled with the Clip from the Nerf N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster - Blue). It's bigger and heavier, so it might not be the best choice for smaller kids, as for bigger kids I highly recommend it. Very accurate (with or without the extra barrel) and I don't have any problems with jamming... Be sure to buy more clips and more darts and have fun! Nerf Bandolier Dart Kit or Nerf N-Strike Flip Clip Dart Refill

       pretty good but...a little overrated - Apr 05, 2010

I bout this gun @ Target.i got it and it waz relly 3 ft long.the sites r relly good, especially if you buy a scope.although this gun l00ks great 35 ft is relly overated.it only shoots about 13 feet.also they 0nly give u 6 darts and 0nly 1 mag.wat also sucs is u can only use streemline darts.if u buy the extra mags its good.the part of the st0k that holds the extra mag is c00l.the pricetag of 34$ is a little hi though.all in all,if u play l0ngdistence dont buy this gun, if u play medium range buy this guun.

Looks Cool, But Bad Performance - Mar 23, 2010

When I assembled the gun it looked really cool. But when I shot it, it only went 15 feet. Also, the flip-up sight doesn't even help you aim. Another bad thing is that unlike the nerf recon and raider, the Longstrike's stock isn't removable once you put it on. If you are looking for a gun that shoots far and is accurate, I suggest you get the longshot.

Very Durable and creative. - Mar 19, 2010

I received this product and as i was assembling it i accidentally put the orange thingy on wrong. READ INSTRUCTIONS you will need them. As for durability, i could feel that it was extremely comfortable when scoping through the iron sights and is extremely accurate. All in all i would buy this product for a fellow nerfer or for your son or daugther. I hope this helped you guys and have a good day.

Good but could be better. - Mar 18, 2010

I don't have it but my friend has it and I got a good look at it. The gun looks great but instead of the little scope thing they should use a longshot scope and send three mags instead of one (two for the buttstock, one for the gun). Nerf should also make the buttstock detachable like the Recon and the Raider. Without the buttstock and the barrel extension you would say it was a shotgun but with all the pieces it imediatley looks like a sniper. All-in-all I'd give it four stars.

       Great fun! - Mar 18, 2010

Bought this for my son. He absolutely has a blast with it. No problems with breakage or anything like that.

       worst gun ever - Mar 13, 2010

when i bought this gun i was excited. It had looks, style, everything; except that normal nerf guns can actually propel a dart more than 2 feet before plummeting to the ground.this gun cost 30.00$ and it couldn't even hit a target from point blank range. if you get this gun, take the time to modify it before assembling it.

       Longstrike falls short - Mar 11, 2010

The only two things I really cared about were accuracy and range. Out of the box the range was about 15 feet. Accuracy is good up to about 12 feet. To get a range beyond 15 or so feet, I'd have to be shooting down a well. Not at all as good as they advertised it as being.

Longstrike is so much cooler than previous models - Mar 07, 2010

The Longstrike is way cooler than previous nerf models, and the added bonus is that you can store clips in the stock. It looks more like an actual rifle, and is considerably lighter than the longshot. Only complaint is that once you put the stock on, you can't take it off like with the Recon. Not really worth more than (...) dollars, but I bought it because it looked really cool and I love collecting nerf guns. It fires better without the barrel, but don't worry it still comes off. This blaster works with the raider drum, and is compatible with the nerf bandolier.

       Repackaged Recon - Mar 07, 2010

Turns out that this Nerf gun has nearly the same internals as a Recon CS-6, but a higher price tag. The plunger system is the same, and it has a bolt action instead of a slide. a good gun, but you may just want a Recon instead.

Big Is Not Always Better... - Mar 06, 2010

I Have 2 Other Nerf Guns, And All i Can Say Is This Is Not As Good As a Nerf Hand Gun, This Does Not Shoot Very Far, That Was Why I Was Ordering It In The First Place, If Your Are Looking For a Good Long Shooter To Take Out The Enemy Buy a Small Nerf Gun With a Scope

       Fun to have. - Mar 05, 2010

Bought this for my son cause they're in to collecting the nerf and buzz-bee foam dart guns.

Gun is cool to have, look at, carry around, and use. As far as it's shooting ability, it shoots much farther and straighter if you leave the barrel extension off. If you want to look cooler and use the extension, it helps to use something like "armor all" in the barrel to remove some of the friction between the dart and the barrel walls.

Because of the way the darts load when cocking the gun, eventually the darts become warn out and start to jam. This probably happens to any foam dart after quite a bit of use.

My son has a nerf maverick, which i think shoots very well and straight. It's as good as this longstrike without the barrel extension.

       My review - Mar 05, 2010

I think this item is a really good product. It has some pretty good range. It is over three feet so it is pretty hard to carry around easily. The bad part about the gun is that some of the darts do not come out as good as they should. If you have a good batch of darts they will come out really good. The gun is compatible with most other N-strike guns like the recon CS-6. It also has room to hold two extra clips in the stock. That is good when your out of ammo in a nerf battle. It looks kind of like a real sniper too. It is single shot bolt acton gun. Over all this gun is a great product for anyone.

Just another CS-6 Longshot, pretty much - Mar 04, 2010

I had high hopes for this gun. I really, really did. It looked like it might be an upgrade to the disappointing CS-6 line, which has been a mess of poorly-ranged, expensive, but nice looking guns.

The aesthetic appeal of the Longstrike was a huge selling point for me. I really liked how, stripped down, it had a kind of sawed-off shotgun look to it. UNFORTUNATELY, once you attach the stock to the back it it, it NEVER comes off. Which...equally unfortunately...had been the first thing I did when I removed the packaging from the gun.

As for firing, though, it works about as well as my existing Longshot. In the world of Nerf toys, this puts it a peg below an $8 Maverick, but, hey, it's pretty.

       Nerf's dedicated Sniper Rifle! - Mar 02, 2010

Great blaster at a great price...Amazon always seems to get these at least two weeks before our local stores. I bought the Deploy at the same place, and am very pleased!

       NIce gun. - Feb 25, 2010

Could nt find this gun anywhere, glad amazon had it, did my own little mods also, got about 25-35 more feet on distance. Cant wait for the Deploy, personally i think nerf should do a poll to see which guns off their video games people would like to be made. Their pretty nice.. All in all good gun, free shipping was nice.

Better than the Longshot! 2nd best Nerf gun ever made! - Feb 16, 2010

I was impressed with this Nerf Sniper. It is a lot better than the longshot. I will now do a comparison with the longstrike and the longshot. Distance= Longstrike goes farther. Accuracy= Longstrike is more accurate. Longstrike's stock holds two clips instead of one in the longshot. Longstrike is more smoother as in DOESN'T EAT UP YOUR DARTS AND DOESN'T GET JAMMED. Longshot is a lot more heavier. You can easily carry the longstrike around. O and the longstrike looks a lot cooler. This is the 2nd best Nerf gun ever made behind the firefly. Keep it up Nerf!

Looks can be deceiving... - Feb 04, 2010

I purchased the Longstrike to add to my cubicle arsenal at work... Considering that most Nerf products are meant for children, my review might not be geared toward what a child thinks or deems as "good," but I will try to highlight the pro's and con's of the product and compare it to the rest of the Nerf lineup that I have used before. Here at work, we also have the Longshot, Raider, Vulcan, and Maverick.

Overall build quality of the toy gun is fairly good. It has the same blue plastic camo design of the Raider, and is durable in the sense that it was dropped to carpeted flooring from a height of ~5 feet and nothing so far has broken or cracked off. It feels fairly nice in your hands, and with all the add-on plastic accessories it looks nice (such as the longer barrel, the 'iron' sights, and the non-adjustable butt stock.) The bolt action and slide mechanism was fairly smooth, is identical to how a stock Longshot is racked, and give this gun a more of a "rifle" feel, as I think Hasbro was intending. Ammo clips are interchangeable with the Raider's drum magazine, however it is quite awkward to hold with the drum in place. In a cubicle/office area where it is used, it is fairly large (in full rifle format) compared to the Raider. The extra ammo clip holder in the fixed stock is a nice touch, however it is a little difficult to get the magazine out once it has been inserted. Six shots go fast in an office firefight.

With the reverse plunger system that applies the power to the darts, your dart range is very limited. We have fairly long hallways and when the longer barrel attachment is added, range and velocity is fairly poor. Actually I would describe it as dismal. The Longstrike has the "looks" of a rifle, but let me assure you, it is not. Accuracy, well, it's not like i'm expecting this to be super accurate, (it's shooting foam darts, duh!) but with the full barrel, my test shots showed the longer barrel configuration greatly reduced the range due to friction against the dart and did not significantly improve the shot accuracy when compared to just the built-in barrel. Stock firing distances were less than a non-modified Raider.. about 25 feet, unless you arc the shot... I suppose in an near close-quarter cube battle, this would suffice, but remember this comes with a non-collapsible stock, it's not that maneuverable. The Longstrike is limited in rate of fire especially with the bolt action. The iron sights look nice, but are pretty worthless, even with the "elevation" hashmark gimmick (which reminds me of a grenade launcher sight)

Modifications? Ugh. don't get me started.. To get the edge in cube warfare, I try my best to get more range and better accuracy. The first thing i did was to remove the air restrictor. Disassembly of the Longstrike is relatively easy, (you will need two different sized phillip screw driver bits.) The plunger system comes out with just two screws and you can get access to the spring assembly. With a 1/2" extra long drill bit and my portable drill, i was able to remove the restriction fairly easy and it has added about 10+ feet of more range to the darts, but also increased the bolt firing noise significantly. I still have not yet sourced a stronger aftermarket spring yet, however McMaster-Carr seems to have the size compression springs that I need.. more on this later when i figure it all out. My Longshot is modified to have the AR-15 spring, fore-arm shot-gun pump, and air restrictor removed... my Raider has the air restrictor removed as well.. I don't think the Longstrike will ever get to the 'potential' of the Longshot's range w/o heavy modification to the existing barrel and upgraded spring, and/or dart changes.

In summary, I am dissapointed in the Nerf Longstrike. It is neither accurate, nor does it have the power to get the range you'd expect for a "long strike." If you want a good 6-shot blaster with decent range, get a Longshot (w/o all that extended barrel junk) and modify that-- it has much more potential. If you want a high fire-rate for close quarters, definitely get the Raider with the fore-grip pump action... If you want a good looking gun, well... I guess this is it? For me, the Longstrike, just strikes out.. maybe I'll change my mind after a suitable spring replacement is found to increase the range/power, but until then, I would recommend you skip this one.

       awesome nerf longstrike cs-6 - Feb 01, 2010

This is an awesome new nerf longstrike cs-6, its a new nerf gun by Hasbro the instructions on how to put it together are simple and easy, its well packed in the box, the gun is easy to mod, the lenght of the gun is 3 feet long, recomend to all nerfers, the downfall Dislikes it doesnt shoot very far 25 feet at the most not 35 feet like it says on the box and it only comes with one clip and 6 nerf streamline darts, in overall its an awesome gun for indoor nerf wars..will buy again its a cool nerf gun..

Better than the Longshot - Jan 31, 2010

This is a great weapon. It's lighter, sleeker, and far less cumbersome than it's Longshot brother. I find it odd that people claim the Longshot's performance out of box is so great, because I've never gotten a great performance from mine. (I bought mine online before they even hit stores though so maybe I got one from a bad batch.) That being said, I was actually very impressed with the Long Strike's range and accuracy. The barrel extension doesn't do much to help...but it looks cool. Without the extension this is probably my favorite Nerf rifle now. I'm not a modder (I have young nieces and nephews and they don't really need to be playing with super-powered Nerf guns.) so for me this gun is perfect just the way it is. The flip up sight is more just for looks than anything and the clip storage in the stock is a lot more efficient than the one on the Longshot.

All in all, I'd say this is the best Nerf rifle on the market right now. There are probably die-hard Nerf modders out there who will disagree with me. But for the rest of us who aren't looking to mod anything...I would highly recommend buying this one over either the Recon or the Longshot. Then again, if you have the money, buy all three.

No Longshot but it looks good - Jan 27, 2010

As many who love Nerf blasters already know, the Lonstrike is a concept design come to life from the N-Strike video game. It is also supposed to be the next Nerf sniper rifle.

      The good:
-The external design is really cool.
-It can hold two extra clips in the stock (not removable like the Recon or Raider).
-Has three tactical rails for extras.
-The barrel extension really helps give the blaster the feel of a sniper rifle. I even like the placement of the latch points to put a shoulder strap.

      The bad:
-The internals are the same as the Recon. It is a reverse plunger system. What that means is the range performance is much weaker than the Longshot (uses a direct plunger).
-The iron sight. As neat as the concept is, this was considered a useless add on with the Recon, I think the same could be said here.
-The permanent stock. Though it is nice that the stock can hold 2 extra clips, it is also a cool looking blaster without it. I personally modded mine so I could take it off.
-The claim of being the Longest blaster. Its 2 inches or so longer than a Longshot...

      The mods:
-The standard mods are the same with most blasters, except I didn't see a air hole in the chamber like the other clip system blasters. AR removal is the same as the Recon. In fact most Recon mods probably apply to this blaster.
-Mod the stock so it can come off, but be careful not to shave the catches too much.

I like the look of the blaster and the concept. I am disappointed that the internals are not like the Longshot and that the out of box performance was so weak compared to the out of box Longshot.
