Just a Barbie, no color changes - Apr 05, 2010

We got this doll for our 4 year old's Easter basket and she was thrilled. We were quite disappointed when we tried the cold water to get the pink in her hair and the other advertised changes to body art, nails and toes. Nothing happened at all. In fact, when we took the doll out of the packaging, she had pink streaks in her hair that have since disappeared. Cold water, warm water, running water, soaking in water- nothing makes the advertised color changes happen. She will still play with the doll I am sure, but she was very upset that her doll does not meet the advertised standards. Think it will be a good long while before we buy anymore Barbie stuff.

Tons of Fun and Good Quality - Apr 05, 2010

My daughter LOVES Barbie toys, so we've definitely got quite a few Barbie dolls. There is one problem - some of the Barbie dolls don't hold up to even light play, especially the ones that are different than the classic dolls, like the fairy dolls/ect. Even before we got the Barbie in a Mermaid Tale movie, my daughter wanted this doll so badly that she used all of her own money to buy it. I was skeptical about a few things - that it would really change colors consistently, and that the tale would work correctly.

But the entire thing works beautifully. The gale is easily transformed into the outfit that Merliah wears in the movie, and the color changing works perfectly as well. There are pictures showing a girl taking this Barbie into the tub, and when we first did it was confusing, because her hair color and her tattoos disappeared. But then we put it in cold water and voila! The tattoos and pink streaks were back! Put it back in warm water and they disappear. This, of course, gave my daughter tons of enjoyment in the tub - she didn't want to get out! I'm definitely very happy with this Barbie doll and love everything about it, and so, too, does my 5 year old!

Better than the other 'fairy' dolls - real proportions - Mar 18, 2010

the doll feels like good quality and one of the things I like best about it is that she has flat feet - and wears flip flops. As such, it feels truly like a beach doll and not another Barbie with pointed toes.

The 'tail'flips up over her head and does some strange positioning to make it into a 'hoodie'. We never got the hang of it and it never looked right. All that hair was just too bulky and looked wrong when we tried for the beach look. But then again, it's really a doll that is much more fun in the water as a mermaid than as a beachcomber.

The color changing is interesting and she seems to be holding up well in the bathtub. Her crown long since fell off and I'll have to sew it into her scalp to keep it there as my daughter wants.

The other really unique feel about this Barbie is that she is proportioned very muscularly - with a thicker waist and those flat feet. As such, she feels more like a 'real' doll than a fashion doll and does stand out from the other Barbies.

great doll and features - Mar 14, 2010

This dolls tail is really nice because it can turn in to a surfer outfit. It has held up very well. It also comes with zuma the dolphin, flipflops, and sunglasses. her toenails are painted and her tatoos are pretty. Her hair is thick and does not get knotted and has pretty pink streaks. She has a sparkly pink tiara that my daughter really loved. But be careful with the sunglasses because they are very easy to loose.

     Adorable Barbie - Mar 05, 2010

This Barbie is beautiful! I haven't had any issues at all with her. My daughter has been playing with her non stop since yesterday. The hair is sleek and beautifully soft. Her tail is cool and it's even cooler that it turns into an outfit easily. This Barbie is a must have for any Barbie loving child.

Mermaid Barbie with Tattoos - Mar 05, 2010

My young daughter loves this mermaid barbie and plays with it every night during bathtime. The barbie's hair and tattoos change with temperature and her 'tail' can convert to a hooded jacket/outfit. We have fortunately not encountered any defects. We are in the process of trying to get all the mermaids for bathtime.

     Broke in Seconds - Feb 14, 2010

My daughter just got this doll for her 4th birthday today. Changing the mermaid outfit into a dress was great and she also loved the accessories. After playing for a few minutes the dolls leg came off. I snapped it back in and tried to sit the doll up and the leg just kept coming off. I could barely move the good leg without using force. I don't know why this doll couldn't sit or move freely but I will be returning it and trying a new one and hopefully it was just this doll.
