Adults like these too! - May 12, 2010

I take my Zhu Zhu to meetings or just show it to friends & neighbors and I'm surprised at how many adults want one. I keep having to buy more for gifts. These are great for kids especially if you encourage them to make their own habitats for them out of cardboard and small boxes or whatever they can find.

     Button breaks easily - May 10, 2010

I bought my first pipsqueak and when i droped it, it broke! we gave that one to my friend and my new one works fine!

     skeptical yet hopeful - May 07, 2010

I bought my niece a few zhu zhu items including "Pipsqueak" and "Jilly" for her 5th birthday. She opened them and did a little squeal of her own. In my opinion her excitement of getting them was worth the price I paid. Unfortunately Pipsqueak stopped moving after a day and a half of receiving it. It still makes noise but will not move. We tried all the troubleshooting tips but still nothing. Pipsqueak is disabled til her batteries wear out then she may meet the same demise other toys do with the same affliction (file 13). I feel bad for my niece so I am going to buy her another Pipsqueak. I hope that the first one was just dropped wrong or something weird and the new one lasts longer than 2 days.

     toy hamster - Apr 27, 2010

this was a gift for my 8 year old niece. it came later than her sister's gift, so I gave her a picture first. she was very excited. she asked every day if it came in the mail, and was absolutely thrilled when it did come. she has four of these hamsters now, and still loves every one of them.

     More trouble than it's worth - Apr 13, 2010

We are on our 5th zhu zhu pet. 3 were gifts for my 3 daughters and 2 have been replaced. We have 2 that work- only 1 original and 1 replacement. The idea is great, but unless you are a 26 year old toy collector or a very careful responsible child, these will not last long. The tubes are tough for the kids to put together themselves(mine are 4,5 and 9) and unless you exclusively run them in the habitats hair is constantly getting caught on the wheels-not off the kids' heads- just from the ground and burns out the motor if you don't catch it soon enough.

Overall they are fun and the kids have a blast playing with them, when they work. The ages that these seem more appropriate for (7+) don't seem too interested in keeping up with them, The younger set is too rough on the little things. The tubes end up taking up a fair amount of space...I'm hoping they will be over these little things by our garage sale in a month. They are the girl equivalent of those RC cars- fun, but limited life span.

     Love it !! - Apr 10, 2010

purchased as a gift for my granddaughter and she LOVES it!!
very cute and a lot of fun...highly recommend.....

My name is Calvin Coolidge - Feb 17, 2010

My name is Calvin Coolidge, I am a 8 year old gray tabby, this was my first Christmas with my new family, I was scared when I first heard the hamster, but now I like watching it, sometimes I touch it with my nose. I am not scared of the hamster anymore.

Cute but kind of lame - Feb 17, 2010

My little 3 year old brother squealed and laughed when he first saw the twozhu zhus. But it is not very much like a hamster, it just makes weird noises and runs around. It soon automatically shuts off, after about 30 seconds, unless you keep them going and they have more battery. The accesories are very cheap and break. You have to admit, they're cute, but don't spend this much money on them. And if you get this for your child, get a backup gift just in case. Don't disappoint yourself! These prices are OUTRAGEOUS!
Walmart sells these for eight bucks, go there instead if you really want one!

     ZhuZhu Who Who? - Feb 14, 2010

My daughter wanted one since she saw the commercial so we got this basically at the last minute hoping it would be a replacement for the real hamster she kept asking for. It arrived I think on Christmas Eve, just in time! Since then she has only played with it about ten times. It's more of a fad toy. It was, however, useful for my husband's pranks. When I was in the laundry room, he sent it across the room and nearly gave me a heart attack, seriously. So, that's the most action this toy got. It's cute, but has no educational value at all and now the wheels don't even turn and it makes a strange noise. Not really worth the extra money we shelled out to get it before Christmas. Actually, in hindsight, I wouldn't pay more that $10 for it max.,

     total disappointment - Feb 11, 2010

I paid $40 to get this and have it by Christmas. It did not last a day. Something inside it broke and the little wheels on the bottom just spun continuously with no effect. Now I either need to buy more to make use of the other junk I bought to go with it, or throw it ALL away. What a huge disappointment. I think I will cut my losses.

Zhu Zhu rip off - Feb 06, 2010

My granddaughter had to have this for Christmas, so I overspent on this hyped thing. It was not very attractive, nor were the sounds or movements of it very real. She tired of it very quickly. For this I spent $[...] ????????? Only a silly Grandma does this!

     disappointed - Feb 03, 2010

We bought this toy for our granddaughter for Christmas. We were disappointed after spending so much money when the toy didn't work. Unfortunately by the time we figured that out all of our paperwork, etc. on the toy had been thrown away so we had one disappointed little girl and no way to get our hard earned money back.

Another hit with my grandaughter ! - Feb 02, 2010

My grandaughter absolutely loves this Zhu Zhu Pet. It is a bit slow though. We changed the batteries and everything. He just likes to move slower I guess. She still loves it though. These are what she wanted most for Christmas.

Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster - Feb 01, 2010

Given to a 9 yr old girl for Christmas present. Cute little yellow hamster.
Arrived very quickly, in orignal packaging, excellent condition.
This was the latest rage in children's toys - so, when I couldn't find one locally...I turned to Amazon.com of course. And of course they had it instock (higher $$ than I would've liked to pay- but what ya gonna do???) Call it supply & demand!
Anyway- it was worth the price(to me) for the look on her face opening the gift & seeing exactly the one she wanted.
Thanks AMAZON.COM for being my "go to" site for ANYTHING I need.

     Great Fun For All ! - Jan 29, 2010

Great Fun for all teaches young kid's n ow to take care of a hampster and have fun playing with one.

     Review - Jan 26, 2010

My dog loves it, but it had too many little moving parts for him to safely play with. But I like it.

My cats love this toy - Jan 22, 2010

I pull this toy out of the toy box every now and then to entertain the cats. They love it. It's worth a laugh.

Zhu Zhu do bite! - Jan 21, 2010

My 3 1/2 year old loved this toy for christmas. She has taken it everywhere she goes. She learned within the first 5 minutes though that the wheel does pinch, first her shirt, and then her skin. OUCH! But regardless, she loves it anyhow. Then our 4 year old picked it up, and as the wheel turned, her long hair got tangled in the wheel. It was hard to get the zhu zhu to stop spinning, regardless of the pushing we did with it's on/off button.

Caution does need to be exercised with this "toy". My 5 year old doesn't want anything to do with it. He saw what the girls went through and is quite content just to watch. Which is what I think this toys purpose was to begin with.

Cute, soft, not so cuddly toy.

     Zhu zhu rodent - Jan 18, 2010

I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter who recently moved with her family to Colorado where she experienced her first winter with snow. She requested the Christmas gift. I thought it was a proper gift since she'd be spending a lot of time inside. I wished I could have seen it first but I sent it directly from the store to her so all I have is a phone call with giggles and a few short sentences about loving the yellow Zhu zhu because all her friends have them. I paid twice the amount I would have if I bought it at a discount box store but everybody was sold out. It's very popular with the kids her age. Normally, I would have been more practical and sent an educational toy because I hate being part of the consumer frenzy at Christmas time. But, grandmothers will go the extra mile for their only granddaughters.

     Cute - Jan 17, 2010

I purchased 3 different ZhuZhu pets for my grandkids. They are all cute, loveable, and scamper around on wheels. Will be much more fun when a tunnel or wheel is added.

     Hair Beware! - Jan 13, 2010

My daughter got several of these pets and the deluxe house for a Christmas present. She had no idea what they even were but as is the way with kids she liked the gift and has played with it somewhat. The house is cheaply made given its price, and takes up a TON of space. It doesn't seem to want to stay put together which is annoying to me. However, that being said, it is nice for the pets to have a "place" to be rather than underfoot. I'm writing this to warn others of the potential for the pets to get stuck in kids' hair. The wheels have excellent traction (read: they are so "sticky" they pull at your hands and fingers if they roll while being held). Noticing this I warned my 4 year old not to get her pony-tails near it. So much for warnings! She came running to me the other day with a pet stuck all the way to her scalp. My biggest concern was getting the batteries out b/c there are 3 buttons which will start it up moving again if touched (one on the back, the nose, and the head)! My husband came running with the screwdriver and I stood there holding the pet like a live hand granade lest one of the buttons get pushed and the wheels start sucking even more hair or worse pulling it all out. Once that was done we sat for 10 mins pulling/untangling all the sucked up hair. She still lost a bit, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. She's given these toys a pretty wide berth since "the incident". Hope others can avoid this danger.

Given to our granddaughter for Christmas - Jan 09, 2010

At this time, our granddaughter loves her new pet and it works
    just fine

     Great Fun - Jan 08, 2010

I paid a little more for Pipsqueek because my son had a live hamster once named Pipsqueek. These toys are very cute and entertaining. I'm glad I made the purchase and hope my grandson enjoys this toy for a long time.

     don't waste your time - Jan 08, 2010

Bought this for my 8 year old niece. Hugged it, slept with it, loved it Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It stopped working December 26. We changed the batteries but to no avail. What a HUGE disappointment!

Fun for small kids and pets - Jan 07, 2010

It's cute. The little noises it makes, it's antics, and mobility makes it a unique toy. My cats and dogs watch it, but haven't got the courage to approach it as of yet.
