furry fun - Mar 16, 2010
The hot toy of the year. Its lots of fun to watch it scoot around the house. My cats like to chase it and bat it around so its pretty sturdy.
dumb and dangerous - Feb 19, 2010
I bought 2 of these for Christmas for my 2 daughters, aged 4 1/2 and almost 2.
The darned thing got caught in my 2 year old's hair and yanked out a huge chunk of hair! She cried and I threw those darn things in the nearest trash can. They are not that much fun to begin with (just a lot of hype) and extremely dangerous for kids! The little wheels get near their face because they want to hug and kiss the little hampsters and then their hair gets caught in the wheel and it will not let go!! Scary and dangerous. Moms and Dads and Grandparents beware.
Not a good cat toy - Feb 19, 2010
Bought this to entertain my cats. It makes too much noise. Mine may be defective, because it's impossible to shut off. The noises are repetitious and would drive me crazy if I was a parent. If it wasn't so noisy, my cats would play with it more.
The critter keeps getting stuck at the edges of the floor and often flips on it's side where it can't right itself.
Just don't buy it for your cats.
Quality toy. - Feb 17, 2010
My daughter got this for Christmas and has really enjoyed it. It's a simple toy so there isn't much to say or explain.
Zhu Zhu pet hamster - Feb 15, 2010
The Zhu Zhu pet hamsters are adorable. When I purchased them they were definitely overpriced averaging about $23 each. The prices of the hamsters have come down considerably and are priced anywhere between $8 to $15 each. The
hamsters are very cute and funny. My girls do love them and enjoy all of the funny noises they make. They have helped us avoid buying the real hamsters and avoid the whole mess of cleaning up after real pets. Their accessories
however, such as the fun house and the slide are flimsy. The plastic that's used is of poor quality and the pieces don't stay connected very well.
Now that the holidays are over, how's this toy fare? - Feb 14, 2010
The popularity of Zhu Zhu Pets came out of nowhere, it seemed. Did anyone really think this was going to be the next Tickle Me Elmo or Robosapien? Little electronic hamsters that make sounds and crawl along the floor?? It was sad to see such cheap toys go for ridiculous amounts of money, and of course once December was over, things calmed down. Are these little hamsters worth their price? Retail price, yes. Anything over that, no.
This was my daughter's first Zhu Zhu Pet, Num Nums. S/he's pretty cute with the little heart on its back. Num Nums makes various sounds when you press the button on its nose, including a moo. It also 'walks' with the two wheels on the bottom side for a little bit before stopping on its own. Even on carpet that's needed replacing for a while, Num Nums inched its way without any problems, and glided along smoother surfaces. Yep, this is a cute toy, and aside from the plastic bottom, soft to the touch.
It's not the price that keeps this from being a 5 star toy- that all depends on the seller (come on parents, CALL THE STORE EARLY AND SEE IF THEY CAN HOLD IT FOR YOU!), but two small problems. One is that these do go through AAA batteries quickly, so you'll want to just go the extra mile and buy some good rechargeable ones. I can also see these breaking very easily because of their construction, and I'd bet anything that one good drop on a hard surface would mess it up for good. There are already stories about kids stepping on these and breaking them, so don't run around while these guys are doing their thing. I also have a minor nitpick about the nose- did the button have to protrude out so much? It looks weird, and I'm sure they could've just made the nose itself a button instead of having the button stick out of it.
Also take care cleaning this if it gets dirty- use a damp rag or sponge while making sure no water reaches the plastic bottom, or it could get in and then you'll be out of a Num Nums!
For the actual retail price, these are great toys that will keep most young kids entertained. If they were big enough to be the must-have toy last year, they had to've been doing something right, right?
excellent!!! - Feb 10, 2010
Well the seller did the extra mile to get this hampster to me in time for christmas. I was very pleased doing bussiness with this seller. Thumbs up!!! keep the good service!
Num Nums Rocks! - Feb 08, 2010
Oh people, this cute little "pet" was just the perfect thing for my little daughter on Christmas. No cleaning up necessary after "Num Nums" and absolutely no need to feed it but it still "died" after a while, after going "crazy" for sometime ... It was simply pure fun from the start and really didn't expect it to "live" that long after handing it over to my "wild" pre-schooler. I wish there were some kind of "hospitals" for these Hamsters!
My 5 year old loves it! - Feb 08, 2010
We were very pleased with Numnums. He arrived in a very timely manner and in great condition. He was huge hit on Christmas morning!
Thanks!
Happy Little Girl - Feb 08, 2010
I din't even know what a Zhu Zhu pet was until my kids were talking about them at Thanksgiving dinner. I quickly found out that it was at the top of my 10 year old daughter's Santa list. In fact it was the only thing, because she didn't mommy could find one. Well we did find one and I think she would have been happy if that was the only present she got this year.
Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Num Nums - Feb 08, 2010
I bought this for my 7 year old niece for Christmas and she absolutely loves it! And so do her parents as she wanted a REAL hamster and this is even better!
No Mess Pet just Plain Fun - Feb 07, 2010
So much fun for all ages with or without extras. Looking forward to purchasing all its relatives.
cute little guy - Feb 07, 2010
I got this for my cat, and he loves it, it really isn't fast enough for him, b/c he is super hyper, but it keeps him entertained. I love how the hamster backs up and keeps going when it runs into a wall, I can leave him alone with it and not worry. I just wish I could turn off the annoying sounds it makes, but we get over that... Cat loves it, so I love it...
I bought it for my Godson and he loves it!! - Feb 07, 2010
This was a Christmas gift. I probably paid too much but it arrived on time and worked right out of box. Very satisfied.
For my Grandaughter - Feb 06, 2010
My grandaughter loves this toy, and I got it so fast .
Thank you for being there when we really need you.
Okay But Ripped Off for Christmas Pricing - Feb 05, 2010
I know we all make decisions and as a grandmother I made one to purchase my granddaughter a ZhuZhu Hamster for Christmas. I did not have to pay the price that was indicated but due to the Christmas shortage I made a decision to go ahead and get 1 hamster for her. I will never do that again. They are still short in the stores but the price I paid was outragious. I won't be taken again.
zhu zhu - Feb 05, 2010
I bought this Zhu Zhu for my two year old grandson who lives in Tokyo. He was quite taken with it and played with it mainly by throwing it accross the room and seeing what it then did. Other family members (older children and adults) liked it too and were more intrigued with what it could do.
just fine - Feb 04, 2010
overall the pet is OK it doesnt make a mess easy to take care of
Bad practices - Jan 31, 2010
This toy was purchased from Amazon Marketplace as a Christmas gift. Amazon as well as most retailers put the big push for customers to shop early. I will never buy from Amazon early again. The ZhuZhu pet I purchased turned out to be a duplicate for the child I purchased it for. Christmas was on Friday and the post office did not have regular hours on Saturday and was closed Sunday.I contacted the seller and was told they would not accept the toy back because it was past the 30 days. I would love to know how you can shop early and still be in the 30 day time frame. I believe the seller did not want it back because I purchased it for 57.00 and by that time Walmart was selling them for 10.00. I am shocked that Amazon has these kind of practices. I have purchased quite afew things from Amazon over the years including a Kindle for my daughter. I am now sorry I bought the Kindle because now I'm stuck having to purchase more books from Amazon.
shortest lasting toy ever - Jan 28, 2010
wasnt the price what bother me the most, but the quality. I bought 7 of them for my daughter. just 2 of the work properly. now 5 of them even with new batteries dont move.
Lots of fun! - Jan 27, 2010
We got this for my 6 year old daugther, along with some accessories, and she loves it! She plays with it all the time. I can't believe how much amazon is ripping people off on these toys! We went to walmart and paid $7.44. Amazon should be ashamed of themselves, charging so much in this economy.
zhu zhu pet - Jan 20, 2010
got num nums as a Christmas present. It is cute and fun for my 5 year old daughter. like the cute noises. I'm glad i didn't pay the crazy prices before Christmas time. If you can't get it for about $[...] then don't bother as that is what its worth. does not hold the children's attention long. This toy is just for fun. not an educational toy.
great fun - Jan 18, 2010
Great new toy, kids love it. It even holds up when the dogs step on it.
The seller I bough from Annas Attic is very good, should get 10 stars. I ended up with an extra and sent it back, I recieved 100% of fund back including return shipping. Fast communication and very easy to deal with.
Cute! - Jan 17, 2010
This is one of three that I ordered for my grandkids. They are lovable and cute, and scamper all over. Will be fun when placed in the tunnel, or wheel. Quick ship.
Fun for young children - Jan 10, 2010
My niece loved receiving this pet to play with and many others just like it. I think there is little if any educational value in owning this pet. However, it is a good way to simulate for a child how to care for a real hamster and understand the importance of feeding, cleaning and caring for any pet. It would also be a great springboard for teachers to bring to class to learn about hamsters without having a real one.
