Great kick-ball - Jul 14, 2010
My son has been using since 1 month old as a kick ball. We suspended with "lots of links" from rungs of play mat. At 1 month-old he had no coordination. He would just kick his legs, and I would suspend the ball on the links in front of his feet. It was an easy target. He was not afraid of the soft jingle sound. It was the first time he could hear/see his movements were having an effect on something outside himself. It was the first time I saw my little guy having "fun playing". The whole family loved to watch him kick. The pediatrician remarked on the muscle tone of his legs. As he developed, he started wrapping his toes around the ball and pulling it this way and that. Now, at four months, he uses his toes to pull it to his hands so he can hold it. A toy that keeps growing with baby!
Great toy! - Jul 09, 2010
My almost 6 month old loved this toy the moment he first saw it! He loves to play with it!
Baby Einstein once again delivers a nice toy! - Jul 01, 2010
I bought the Bendy Ball for my 6 months old son. He loves to play with it. It has all the great features that make it a perfect toy for a child this age - it is bright, it is light enough for him to hold it in his hand and it is durable enough for him to chew on it. It is very easy to clean and fun for him to play.
My son's favorite toy - Jun 29, 2010
This has been my son's favorite toy since he was 3.5 months. He is now almost 7 months and he still constantly plays with it, and if he is crying, shaking it quickly stops the crying. Excellent toy!
Keeps him entertained! - Jun 29, 2010
My four month old son loves this ball. It's the perfect toy for him now that he's starting to reach for things and grab. Would recommend!
Big hit for such a cheap toy! - Jun 17, 2010
Our son got this toy at 5 months. Instantly loved it. He could easily put his fingers into the openings on the bendy ball and hold it. He's accidentally drop it and could easily pick it up again. The ball is light weight enough that it doesn't hurt him when he hits himself in the head with it (it happens) and he loves to throw it. The only negative is that he tries to eat it but can't. The ball bends but not enough to let him mouth the ball. But then again, he tries to eat everything. Oh, and he's 7+ months now and still loves to play with this toy. It's the cheapest toy we own and one of his favorites.
Easy for little hands to hold - Jun 14, 2010
This is a great toy for infants. Because of all the holes, it makes it easy for little uncoordinated hands to grasp and hold. With every shake of my son's hand, the little bells inside made a jingling noise, and he was fascinated with it. I would recommend for 3- to 9-month olds.
My Favorite Play Toy For a Young Baby - Jun 12, 2010
My Son started playing with this ball when he was only 3 months old. He first started to toss it with his toes and then his hands. The holes in the ball make it so easy for a baby to hold. This is one of his favorite toys and it still is 4 months later.
Great Toy for Infants - Jun 08, 2010
This is one of my son's favorite toys. Purchased it when he was around 3mo and he's still grabbing at it and tossing it at 6mos. It's a real 'soft' plastic and very flexible so even with his habit of banging everything he gets in his hands against either his body or his pack-n-play it doesn't worry us.
Good First Ball - Jun 07, 2010
I bought this from Babies "R" Us when my son was 4 months old and 2 1/2 months later he still plays with it everyday. The ball is easy for him to grasp and move from hand to hand. The rattle inside captures my son's attention instantly. It rolls fairly well on carpet and wood floor which also encourages my son to roll and crawl after it. The bendy ball is bright, soft and bendable; my son has hit himself in the head with it a few times and hasn't injured himself. The ball is small enough to pack in the diaper bag and is super easy to clean. This is the first toy we grab when we want to distract or calm fussiness.
Perfect for Little Hands - May 25, 2010
The "Baby Einstein Bendy Ball" is sorta misnamed - it really does bend! However, our daughter loves to grab the ball and bang it against everything that is near her (our poor dog!). We mainly use it while we are in the car - the Bendy Ball fits nicely in our daughter's lap..
Pros-
- Perfectly sized for small wandering hands. Our daughter can easily grab the ball but NOT get her entire hand stuck inside the ball.
- The ball inside the ball acts as a rattle. It also grabs the attention of our cat, but that is a separate story.
- Brightly colored - once she gets older we will play the "Point to the red/blue/green/yellow game.
- Is light enough that it doesn't hurt her when she bangs herself in the head.
- We have not found in sharp edges - I know one reviewer mentioned this, but they may have receieved a bad bendy ball.
- Despite all of the cut-outs and the Baby Einstein logo the ball will roll - which makes it a fun crawling toy.
- Not that expensive
Final Verdict - While I would not say that this is our daughter's favorite toy - she does enjoy playing with it and for the price it is a welcome addition to her toy box.
4 1/2 stars
Fun, simple toy. Easy for baby to grab - May 23, 2010
I bought this for my son when he was starting to be able to grab onto things. He LOVES his bendy ball!! It's really easy for him to grab and hang on to. The rattle ball inside keeps his attention really well and he loves the little caterpillar's face. Great, simple toy!
careful -- sharp edges that can hurt fingers - May 18, 2010
This is a poorly designed product. The photo conceals the fact that the rounded-off struts forming the grabbing surface of the ball are completely flat on the back. This creates a hard, quite sharp edge wherever the child grasps the ball and it can scrape the skin if the child shakes her hand it to let go (like some other reviewers' kids, our son sometimes had trouble figuring out how to release his grasp at first and would try to shake it off his hand). It's also fairly heavy, firm plastic so when the child flings it it can hurt a toe or forehead, though not seriously.
The toy is really not suitable for young babies, and I am surprised it is so popular. We got rid of this one and got a few Oballs [Original Oball] - similar concept, minus the ball inside, but made of truly soft and rounded-off rubbery plastic. It super easy for babies to grab and toss, and light enough that it can't hurt anyone even if thrown hard. Another version also includes a rattle, which our son liked. (I have nothing to do with Oball and am NOT trying to astroturf -- just annoyed at Baby Einstein for selling this poorly thought out product).
Great Learning Toy - May 13, 2010
I bought this toy for my grandson who is blind. sI had done my homework on it and found that it was very well liked by children who cannot see very well or at all. He can grab it easily and seems to really enjoy it.
Mediocre - May 12, 2010
He's bored after 5 minutes. He likes to bang it on things, even accidentally hits his own head sometimes doing so. He's tuff, doesn't bother him. 6 months.
Lots of fun - May 11, 2010
bought it for my 3 month old and she is still enjoying it at 5 month old. Likes to put her fingers in, cant always figure out how to get them out. A great toy for travel, not very big and keeps her interest.
Baby Toy - May 10, 2010
There are mixed feelings about this toy. My daughter called it a giant cat toy,,lol. It does have small holes that a little finger can get caught in and probably hurt a bit. It is colorful and makes a great jingling noise that babies love but i didnt like the small holes around the middle of the ball where the circles are. They should either be much smaller so little fingers cant go in or they should be closed up completely some how. Take a good look at it and decide for yourself if it is safe for your baby.
Very good - May 02, 2010
My almost 4 month old started playing with it as soon as I took it out of the packaging. It is an outstanding toy for development.
There are two reasons why I annot give it a 5 star rating: 1) it is on the small side, and, even at $6, it's a so-so deal. 2) It's too easy for slightly older babies and toddlers to get their hands stuck trying to retrieve the little rattle ball.
Otherwise this is a great toy, and I do recommend it despite my personal beefs.
Better for younger children - Apr 29, 2010
My son and nephew both liked this ball when they were younger. (They are 19 months now.) Now, they just want to open it and remove the ball inside, so they get really frustrated and angry with it, because it doesn't open. Also, it's pretty hard, so it can bonk them on the head pretty roughly. Other than that, we like it.
Be carefull!! - Apr 26, 2010
my duaghter is almost 5 months and her little pinky got stuck in one of the smaller holes around the smily caterpillar, thank God the nanny noticed that before it could have been a tragedy !
It was okay in the early months - Apr 22, 2010
I bought this for my son when he was about 3.5 months old. He seemed to enjoy playing with it for the first few months we had it, but he has lost interest now. He's much more likely to play with a "real" ball these days. I would recommend for young infants, but anything past 8 or 9 months - I'd consider a different purchase.
Very educational. - Apr 07, 2010
Was very pleased with this purchase. I cannot beleieve how children can learn while playing with this ball.
Great! - Mar 29, 2010
My son has loved the Bendy Ball ever since he was four months old! He is six months old now and still plays with it daily. It is so easy for him to grasp and the colors and sounds make it fun for him. His 10 month old cousin loved it too when she came to visit. Definitely worth $5.99!
6 month old loves it - Mar 16, 2010
I wasn't excited about this ball, I just wanted something to roll to my 6 month old but this was all my WalMart had. I thought it would be hard to roll. But it rolls just fine, and she loves it. It's easier to grab with the holes, and the ball inside makes it double as a rattle.
Fun baby toy! - Mar 08, 2010
I got this little ball in order to push my order total up to get free shipping. Little did I know, my 5 month old girl would LOVE it. It is flexible yet durable. She bangs it around to hear the rattle ball in the middle and she can also chew on it.
