The ball is getting bumpy.... - Jun 16, 2010
I brought this mini hoop for my 7 years old son. Actually I brought two of these and my son loves this hoop but the ball is getting bumpy. I contacted the customer service to replace the ball but the ball is still getting bumpy. Except the ball it's fun and good for kids.
best indoor mini hoop ever. - Jun 13, 2010
I love this basket. I've owned a lot of nerf, lil sport baskets in my day. I have 2 of them. One I took off the door mounts and mounted it directly on the wall. The other is over a door. The only problem is that the ball is a little heavy for the breakaway rim. I recommend getting a lighter ball.
Realistic hoop - Jun 13, 2010
My 9 year old loves this goal. He says that this mini hoop is great for practicising creative dunks in the house. It is great for playing on rainy days. Contrary to what the packaging states, the backboard bangs up the paint on the door and the ball is hard enough to knock paint off the baseboards. A hard dunk or slam will crack the backboard. On our wooden paneled door, the sound of the board banging against the door is unnerving.
Nice Indoor Hoop - Little Loud - Jun 10, 2010
I just got this yesterday and this review is from about 20 minutes of playing with the hoop. I bought this for my son (and me) and it is a pretty nice little set-up. The rim has a spring that allows the rim to flex down. The back board does not seem that durable considering the metal ring and spring setup, but time will tell. The backboard is made of (from the item's description:) "8-by-12-inch clear shatterproof polycarbonate backboard", so I really don't know how durable it is - but so far so good.
Pros:
Easy setup/tool included with the hoop - three nuts and bolts, put the net on and done
Blow the ball up and start shooting
Easily slips over the closet door
Nice clear backboard
Nice padding on the back of the mounting plate to protect the door.
Padding on the back of the hoop itself also protects the door's finish
Cons:
The 5" basketball is nice, no denying that, but for an indoor setup, the breakage factor is definitely there. My son and I tend to play a little rough and the ball bouncing out of control will break something if we are not careful. Solution - we tried using the softer rubber/nerf like material balls and they seem to be a little "safer."
The ball bouncing off the backboard can be a little loud, again back to the nerf rubber style ball - no issues.
The hoop is hanging over a hollow indoor closet door which may be a factor in the noise level. Right now that is the place with the best area with the least likelihood of household damage.
All in all - this is a great indoor basketball backboard and hoop. I would recommend this to anyone with younger kids (5 or 6 to say 12 or so). They (and dad) will have a blast.
Could use adjustable door hangers - May 26, 2010
Great quality for the price paid. I've got this at my office and people are always stopping by to jam on it. Kind of wish that the ball was foam as it makes a lot of noise in the surrounding office areas. Also would have liked adjustable door hangers as our office doors are thicker for some reason.
Great Deal of The Day Buy - May 24, 2010
Great price for a good quality product. It has a spring, and while it's on the small side overall, it's great for indoors, as intended. Very happy with this purchase.
Nice! - May 24, 2010
Best indoor hoop on the market! A little noisy for using indoors but otherwise a quality product.
Fun for everyone - May 04, 2010
This basketball hoop is a smaller version of a real basketball hoop. It is very well made and the whole family has a blast playing together.
Awesome for the grown man - Apr 08, 2010
I bought one of these to put in my office and think I might be another one for my house. The ball is a real rubber mini ball that has a nice bounce to it. It is loud, especially coming off the spring loaded rim, but it gives it a better feel. The one thing I REALLY love about this is that the board is clear, which means you can buy window decals (and place them safely behind the board) to customize the board to represent your favorite team. This looks real slick. No one questions why a grown man has a mini-hoop in his office. Everyone who comes in just thinks it's cool.
The Perfect Sturdy Mini Hoop - Apr 07, 2010
I have nothing bad to say about this mini hoop. After years of buying cheap nerf hoops, I finally decided to invest in a sturdy one. The rim spring-back feature is nice when dunking on it. The rim is also made of metal so it won't sag or break like a plastic one would do. The backboard has foam on the back to protect your door and minimizes sound from the ball bouncing off of it. The hoop also has two clamps to hold it onto the door instead of one which increases the sturdiness of the hoop. The only thing that could make it better would be a thicker backboard but the current one will do. A great investment and I recommend this to anyone that is looking to upgrade from a plastic/nerf mini hoop.
Fun basketball hoop for the office! - Mar 13, 2010
We bought this basketball hoop for our office. For the most part it is exactly what you would want for a fun way to pass the time...couple of negatives...
- the over the door hanger is too thick for most doors to close when the hoop is hanging on them. we tried to use it over the door, but just didn't work because we wanted to actually be able to close the door.
- unless you are kobe bryant or michael jordan, you will miss from time to time, and if you miss and the ball hits a wall or door, it will leave marks. we bought a different type of ball and we have no marks. :)
A little pricey but worth it. - Mar 10, 2010
My three boys lay waste to the average indoor/over the door basketball hoop, so I opted to spend the extra money in hopes of getting a more durable product. It's already outlived every other indoor hoop we've ever purchased. The boys know they can't hang from the rim and expect the hoop to last, but they frequently dunk the ball and the rim collapses as it's intended to.
Mini hoop basketball (for a door) - Mar 09, 2010
What a hit! My son LOVES this small, indoor, basketball net...he had to get it since 2 other friends had it. Compact, fits behind a bedroom door. BUT, It is so loud when it hits the backboard- sounds like the door is breaking. It does not fit flush against the door, so everytime you throw it, it bangs against the door frame, VERY loudly! would be excellent if could be made tighter fit and quieter!
Great Goal - Mar 02, 2010
I bought this for my 7 and 5 yr. old sons and they love it. It is very sturdy and looks cool and even has padding on back so it doesn't scrape up your door. Great goal. Highly recommended.
Finally, a great indoor hoop! - Feb 05, 2010
13 years! That's how many years we have been buying, and re-buying indoor basketball hoops for our boys. Not one has lasted more than a few months - until now. This hoop has a strong backboard and a sturdy metal rim. Now, the rim is not a break-away style, and I assume if there is a lot of pressure or hanging on the rim, the plexiglass-type backboard could crack and/or break. But as long as their slam dunks do not get too out of control, this should last for a good long time. Extra bonus is the rubber padding on the back of the hoop and on the top hooks that hang on the door. No scratches on my front door and minimal black scuff marks after hours and hours of use. I would recommend this product to any "serious" indoor hoops player, especially those who keep buying the nerf-type hoops. It looks good, plays good and keeps my boys, and their friends, entertained during the winter months when it is too snowy or cold for them to use their outdoor hoop.
Mini Hoop - Feb 02, 2010
Bought it as a christmas present, it fits well on the door, but the only thing is that, you wont be able to close the door ones you have set the hoop up. The hoop had some scratches on the surfaces. Great for gifts for boys.
Well Made and Fun - Jan 30, 2010
My daughter and I were impressed with how well made the hoop was. However, her sister in the next room has legitimate reasons to complain about the noise it generates when we use itI.
Tons of Fun - Jan 23, 2010
We bought this for our 11-year old son for Christmas and he has not stopped using it. It allows for great dunking and is very sturdy. The breakaway rim is one of a kind and facilitates super dunks. The "glass" backboard also makes it superior to other nerf rims. Highly recommend it!
sicky - Jan 13, 2010
I bought this for myself...and I am a 31 year old man...who likes to shoot some indoor hoops during the winter when its cold and there is nothing else to do. Anyway, I hard mounted this to my wall.....it is not set up for that so you need to take the door brackets off ...and you will need a drill, washers and some wood screws, a stud finder..etc. But this thing is sweet. It is like a real hoop and the thickness of the backboard doesnt matter. i have had 5 hoops before this and this is by far the best one. It will not break even with me taking 18 footers! The only downside is the ball seems a little heavy for the hoop. I am using the ball from my old hoop that is same size but lighter material....than again, i bet it holds up to the heavy ball. Highly reccomended!
Durable! - Jan 09, 2010
This was a hit with my 12 and 10 yr. olds for Christmas! It's way sturdier than the Nerf-type hoops (or anything I've ever looked at in the past). It even survived a New Year's Eve party with 8 kids 12 and under and a bunch of high school basketball players. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the net stretched and got misshapen so it looks odd, but it still works great, of course.
boys loved it - Jan 07, 2010
My daughter told me that these were the favorite gifts of her boys ages 13, 10, and 8. The 8 year old is hard on it and it is holding up good. They play with these gifts the most.
Excellent! - Dec 29, 2009
Purchased this for my eight year old son as a gift. He loves it, it's durable and has withstood almost non-stop one-on-one games with his fourteen year old brother. The padding on the backboard has kept the door from becoming marred as they do their best to recreate the days of Phi Slamma Jamma.
Highly recommended.
Great for indoor BBall - Dec 29, 2009
Purchased one for my kids and one for a gift. Nicely made - very happy with purchase!
A Great Mini Hoop! - Dec 29, 2009
Goal is well made looks nice too.
My only complaint is the ball it came with. Ball is nice quality but its too heavy and rough for indoor use, you can easily break things and damage your surroundings with it. My advice is to buy a soft ball. Other than that, no complaints!
Very good! - Dec 28, 2009
Recently purchased for my 10 year old son...he's loving in it. Much better than the cheaper plastic rims that break, actually I bought both, started with the cheaper version but my son saw this one at a friends house and asked for it. Gave the plastic one to my nephew and it didnt make it through the night.
4 stars instead of 5 because the backboard flexes a bit, they have a break away rim on it but when you put pressure on the rim the backboard flexes more than the rim.
