Felt Chalk Eraser - Jun 23, 2010
I purchased a Melissa & Doug super easil for my granddaughter for Christmas. Someone else also got her a set of art supplies(generic brand)to use on her new easil, where she can paint, color, chalk, use felt tip, whatever her little heart desires or is in the mood for at the time. I found out though that the chalk board eraser that it came with (which is made of sponge material) was only good for the whiteboard on erasable felt tip markers, but was not good for chalk and only smeared and left the chalk board practically unusable, unless you washed it down. So I searched for a real chalk board eraser made with felt. Melissa & Doug did not fail me. They had one! I should have know. Now my granddaughter has two erasers, one for each type of erasible art that she does. It did not take her any time at all to figure out which one is used on the chalk board and have even watched her tell her older brother to only use the felt one on the chalk board, it was so cute, coming from a 5 y/o.
I would definately recommend this eraser to friends, if they asked.
Works Great - Jun 16, 2010
I had been looking for a chalk eraser for a while and for some reason could not find one. Until I saw this. It is exactly what I needed and it works great. My kids have a ton of fun using their chalk board.
black eraser just like i had in school! - May 25, 2010
my daughter loves erasing just as much as she likes scribbling on the chalk board. i've also taken this eraser outside and beat it to get the dust out. that seems to refresh it pretty easy. we also use the M&D chalk (colored and white). i'm not sure if all erasers are the same, but this one has definitely met my expectations. M&D products are typically pretty good!
Great for pushing chalk dust around - Apr 07, 2010
This product is really good if, instead of erasing chalk, you'd prefer to spread it around your chalk board creating neat swirly patterns.
Works - Feb 25, 2010
We needed a Eraser and this fits the bill.
I just wish I knew a cheap way to totally clean the chalk board and get it back to new like condition.
Doesn't erase anything! - Feb 10, 2010
Doesn't erase properly. What good is an eraser if it doesn't work? I recommend not wasting money on this one.
Useless, use a damp sponge instead. - Jan 06, 2010
If a Chalk eraser should do one thing it would be to erase chalk. Save your money and buy a sponge.
Works on Chalkboard Paint - Nov 18, 2009
Was looking for a chalkboard eraser to use on our chalkboard-painted wall. Was surprised to find it was so hard to find chalkboard-specific erasers (not a dry-marker eraser). Apparently this eraser can be used for chalk and dry-erase markers, but I find that it does a pretty good job erasing chalk. I started with a Rose Art eraser, which pretty much smeared the chalk, while the Melissa & Doug eraser seems to "pick-up" the chalk a bit more. I was hoping for a more grooved eraser-this one is a flush felt marker that has rows of felt glued to the wood handle (it's not like a traditional dry-marker eraser with one "carpet" layer of felt), which must account for its ability to "lift" the chalk off the board rather than just smearing it around. Anyway, if you have painted a wall in your house with chalkboard paint (specifically a drywall wall), this will work a lot better than the Rose Art eraser, but you'll still need to wet-wipe your board at the end of the day.
It's a nice eraser. - Nov 08, 2009
It erases chalk perfectly on a real chalk board, but not so well on the chalk board paint. It's a nice eraser.
nice average eraser - Oct 25, 2009
it's an eraser, what is there to review? it erases chalk, so I guess it gets high marks.
Great Eraser - Aug 18, 2009
I run a daycare from my home and bought an easel with a chalk board side. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find an eraser for it...who knew that could be so hard. I looked everywhere! I finally found this one and since I love all of the Melissa and Doug products I figured this would be a good buy. I like that it has a wooden handle and it seems to be very well made. It erases great and is easy for the kids to hold.
Great eraser - Jul 10, 2009
Great eraser, my son loves to doodle and then use the eraser to wipe the chalk board clean. He got exciting about doodling (he's 2 yrs old) because he could erase it himself.
Not great comparing to Melissa and Doug's other products - Jun 22, 2009
I have purchased many of Melissa and Doug's products since my daughter was born in 2006. This chalk brush I am not very impressed with. It doesn't take the chalk off the board all that well. It leaves behind an image of what you have written/drawn on the board and the chalk seems to fall more on the ground than it does stick in the brush. Maybe these issues are because it is new but I don't ever remember having to 'break in' a chalk brush. At this point I can't say I would recommend this product.
Works great - Jun 05, 2009
My daughter got a chalkboard/easel for her birthday & it came with one of those erasers that claims it works for both chalk & dry erase boards. As you can guess, that eraser didn't work for our chalkboard. So we bought this one - problem solved.
Quite good - nice looking eraser - Mar 21, 2009
The esaser is of good quality and it looks very nice. It doesn't rub out our chalk quite as well as I thought it would but possibly that's due to the type of chalk we use, I don't know. However, having said that, it does rub out chalk reasonably well.
Good quality! - Jan 07, 2009
My daughter had been looking for a "real" chalkboard eraser for our grandson and kept finding same of not-good quality. Finally, I came across this on Amazon and she's so pleased to have a good-quality eraser that will last.
What a "charming" eraser! - Dec 12, 2008
I needed an eraser for the religious education class I teach as the one that was there left more chalk on the board than it erased. I looked at different ones at the stores and they usually came with whiteboard markers. I was not sure if they would work with a blackboard as well. They all looked a little funny to me, not the way an eraser is supposed to look. I finally looked through Amazon and found this one. Now first off what attracted me was it was a "Melissa & Doug" product. I love these guys! I remember when they first came out and I would buy their puzzles for my sons. My boys loved those puzzles more than any of the other ones. They would carry them around with them through the house, sit them on the ground when they went potty (toddlers) and then pick them up and take them to lunch, dinner and I am surprised they did not want to even sleep with them! Melissa and Doug really know what kids (and moms!) like! So that was a big draw. Then I read the description and it said it could be used on a blackboard and on a whiteboard. The top of it was pretty made out of wood with their names on it. I grabbed it up! When I had it at school, all my "cool" 5th and 6th grade kids suddenly became little kids again when they discovered that eraser! It was hard to control the class when they all were begging me to be the one to erase the board at the end of class! I finally let them play hangman on the board (religious hangman, of course!) and they all got a turn at using my new chalk and my new Melissa and Doug eraser. The boys in particular seemed to really like it. Maybe the wood? Good job Melissa and Doug! Keep up great ideas cuz theres to many of us moms and kids out here who will not let you quit! Oh, by the way, the eraser works like a charm. Better than any eraser I have ever used and even when it had erased stuff several times it was still not leaving "chalk streaks" on the board! Good investment on my part!
eraser - Nov 05, 2008
It's an eraser... actually a seemingly well made one. I have only had it for a few weeks but it appears to have the potential to hold up well.
Great chalkboard eraser - Jul 09, 2008
It was impossible to find a chalk board eraser at local stores. This one is well made, appears to be durable (we've had it for a few months), and works great!
