the molecule is a fave - Aug 17, 2010
We received the Winkel Teether Toy as a new-baby present from one of my dear friends. She touted to us the cool features of the quiet rattle chime, the way the loops were built so that one could stick little hands through before grasping was mastered and how it would make a great teether if tossed in the fridge. It went on the shelf until she was ready for toys. We thought it would just be part of the regular rotation, but already she's shown a preference for it. The ease of grasp for her and the ability at any angle to be able to put a ring in her mouth sold us on how much fun she was having.
A must-have early toy - Aug 16, 2010
LOVE this toy. I bought it used from a consignment store, and if the previous owner gave it as much use as my baby has, then it has lasted really well. I got it because I thought it would be good for learning to use two hands together, which it was. It was also the first toy my baby could grasp by herself. I hung it with links from her activity gym and she was fascinated by it. In fact it more or less taught her how to grab at toys. She would bat at it and then grab it almost by accident. This was her absolute favorite toy from 1 month to 4 months. Highly recommended.
Best toy! - Aug 10, 2010
This is my 5-month-old son's favorite toy! He is never bored with it! The best part (for me) is that he can play with it in the car by himself. Even when he drops it, he can retrieve it all by himself because there are so many different loops he can grab. He sticks the loops in his mouth, pulls at it all different ways, and loves to just look at it. This is such a simple toy and might seem expensive for what it is, but it's totally been worth it for us!
Love the Winkel! - Aug 09, 2010
This toy is by far the fave...it comes with us wherever we go. The beach, a parade, G&G's house. It is easy to hold on to and my son loves sticking it in his mouth. Highly recommend this toy!
great for teethers and little hands! - Jul 28, 2010
This became my son's favorite toy around 3 months of age. His little hands can easily grab the loops. Now that he is teething he brings it to his mouth to chew on. Great great toy! We lost our first one and quickly ran out to replace it.
My baby loves it! - Jul 17, 2010
My daughter is almost 4 months old and she loves it. she grabs it with both hands (sort of) and takes it to her mouth to lick it and then grunts when she drops it. it's her favorite!
Wonderful first toy for infant - Jul 02, 2010
I was so pleased with this toy. This was one of the first toys my baby genuinely interacted with. With the soft circles in all directions it allows a baby to grab and hold on at any angle. The bright colors and soft light weight make it ideal for a young infant. The rattle noise is very subtle which is either a plus or a minus depending on your view point. As my baby has gotten older, he's seven months now he has less interest but I still feel it was totally worth the price for the hours of enjoyment he got earlier. All in akk a great toy for a younger baby.
Great Teething toy! - Jun 25, 2010
Perfect for little hands to grip around. Very colorful and has a little rattle in the middle. My daughter loves it - and she is only 5 months old. Very easy for her to use.
great toy for little hands! - Jun 15, 2010
This has been the perfect toy for my 4-month-old: It's one of only 2 toys he's been able to grab with both hands and mouth consistently. I really think it's been a great way to get him more confident and excited about developing those fine motor skills. Great, solid materials and fun colors. The rattle in the inner cube is a nice added bonus (and not too loud!)
Great age appropriate toy - Jun 15, 2010
I got this for my son at 4 months and he absolutely loves it! It's great how he can grab on to the toy at every angle. Also soft yet durable when he's putting in his mouth to chew on it.
Perfect for Little Hands!! - Jun 10, 2010
My 3 month old daughter absolutely loves this toy. It is her favorite. It is perfect for little ones just learning to use their hands to pick things up. They can't go wrong because it has so many places to hold on to. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! Great for teething too. Just throw it in the freezer and you have a great chilled teether for those sore gums. This is a great toy. I would definatley recommend it to anyone with a new baby.
Great Toy! - Jun 07, 2010
I bought this toy based on the reviews and I was not disappointed. I bought other toys for my baby, but this is really the only toy he is interested in. This is the toy I use for Tummy Time. He will work so hard to stay up or pull himself back up to look at this toy. It's also the only toy that he can easily grab and carry in his hands. The material is great since it's kind of squishy. My son will be turning 3 months this week and he has been playing with this toy since he was 2 months old.
Fun and interesting - Jun 03, 2010
My son received this as a Christmas gift. It was easy for him to hold (at 3 1/2 months) and he likes the bright colors. As he got older, it was easy for him to pass from hand to hand. It's one of his favorite teething toys too.
It's still one of his favorite toys (he's almost 9 months).
Winkel ball - Jun 01, 2010
This ball is awesome!! It was the first toy that my daughter enjoyed playing with. A bit before 3 months she began reaching out and grabbing the ball. Its very easy for clumsy hands to get a grip. It took her a couple days but she figured out how to get into her mouth, she loved it! Now that she has gotten better with her hands she enjoys other toys like her peacock and firefly, but the winkle ball was the first toy she could grasp and manipulate. I bought one for a friends baby and he loved it too. I'd definitely recommend this toy for babies who haven't quite yet begun to play with toys, you'll love watching your baby practice their new skill!
Great for tiny baby hands - May 27, 2010
The colors are great. The loops are easy for tiny babies to grasp. It's fun to toss around to older toddlers as well. It's a great quiet toy. It's my favorite gift to give for baby showers!
Bought for gifts - May 23, 2010
My baby granddaughter loves this toy so I bought 2 to give as baby gifts in the future. Easy for baby to hold.
Good toy - May 19, 2010
I bought this for my 4 mo. old grandson...now 5 months. He tries to chew on everything, and its very good for that. I think if it were just a little bit smaller he could handle it easier.
great first toy - May 17, 2010
Really pleased with this toy. It was one of the first toys our daughter was able to really grasp on her own and play with. The large loops made it easy for her to whack around, make noise with, and get into her mouth for teething. Its large size (relative to her!), but light weight has made her work on passing the toy directly from hand to hand (a developmental milestone), rather than via her mouth. We also like that it doesn't pose a suffocation hazard and can be left in her crib for her to play with when she wakes up. (If your baby won't grab at it too much while feeding, you can also use it to prop a bottle -- we did anyway...)
OK - May 14, 2010
This toy is OK. My 5 1/2 month old is able to hold onto it easily, but just doesn't seem to like it as much as her other toys.
Favorite Toy for my Twins - Apr 27, 2010
We were given this toy at our baby shower and it has been a hit. Both of my boys love it so much, I had to order a second one. This toy is so nice and light that my sons could handle it well from the time they were just a couple months old. They played with this weeks before they had any interest in other toys. I plan on giving it as a gift to all my friends who have babies in the future.
Toys for toddlers - Apr 18, 2010
This is an adorable toy which is easy to handle. It can be just fun to handle or can be safely thrown as a ball.
First toy our 10 week old son actually played with - Apr 12, 2010
I found out about this toy on a parenting forum where some mom wrote "I melted my son's Winkel!" after a few chuckles about the obvious "what that *could* have been referring to" I went and looked at the product itself and after hearing other parent comments about how much their little person enjoyed this I decided I would get one for our little boy too.
First of all: I guess you probably shouldn't put this toy in a sanitizer (like you would use to sanitize baby bottles) that's how the forum mom melted her son's toy. So put that on the top of the "don't do this" list.
This is plastic and it is made in China but purports to be PVC and phaelate free. When it arrived it was very clean. I washed it off with a little soap and water to be safe but I am not too concerned about him sticking it in his mouth.
I gave this to our son when he was ten weeks old. He was able to grab it and hold it and eventually started passing it from one hand to the other and holding it up, sticking it in his mouth, playing with it with his feet. I think it makes a good first toy. It's light enough and soft/flexible enough he can't really hurt himself with it.
It's also really cute and reminds geek daddy a little bit of an atom or molecule.
Baaad Idea - Apr 11, 2010
Another really interesting and fun looking item that had to be returned because it was made in China. Not good, and not recommended for a baby.
Wish this wasn't the case.
Great teething toy - Mar 29, 2010
Our daughter loves the Winkle! It's one of her favorite toys. The bright colors and the soft gummy rings are great. It has so many places she can hold on to. You can put it in the fridge when they really start teething. Our daughter isn't teething yet, but still puts everything in her mouth. She shakes it and squishes the rings together. It holds her attention which is all you can really ask of any baby toy.
Eh... it's okay but too much $ for what you get. - Mar 26, 2010
I thought this would be an interesting toy for my 4 month old to play with over the next few months. He is 7 months now and hardly touches this toy. I also thought it would be bigger for some reason. I guess it's not the fact that he hardly plays with it that bugs me. The toy is durable and it's only meant as a teething toy, but for the price I could buy him something with lights or sounds instead of a boring teething toy he doesn't really mess with.
