Best thing since canned beer - Sep 02, 2010
These things are a kick. Easy to fly, highly maneuverable and pretty durable considering the pounding they take when you're learning to fly them. Recharge with USB is about 45 minutes for over 5 minutes of flying.
Works great when it would fly - Sep 02, 2010
I bought one of these from Amazon after reading the reviews. It is difficult to find a product that works as great as this one did. I mention that it did because the one I got would not fly all of the time. It stayed grounded until the gear or second motor would spin the lower rotor fast enough. It was fun while it lasted. I have since returned it and bought 2 more just in case another one is defective. I will keep both to extend my fly time. 8 minutes is not long enough.
Durable, light, powerful, FUN!!! - Sep 01, 2010
This was one of the first small indoor helis I have purchased. I was so impressed with this toy that I ordered a couple of other models since my friends and neighbors were all jealous. None of the other models compare to how well you can fly and control this helicopter in your home.
Just like with real flight you have to be careful of cross-winds in your home, such as the AC vents while running. Can easily push you heli in another direction and you should be ready to conteract the difference.
I absolutely recommend this heli to everyone as a great way to build up experience for the larger models used outdoors. If you break it you wont cry too much because of the low cost to replace. But most of all, its so much fun and annoys my dog everytime it takes off, who like me enjoy watching the mystery of science as it produces lift.
Awesome Heli! - Sep 01, 2010
This heli is awesome. It's my first heli with a gyro, and is much better than the havoc heli. It can charge through te usb cable and the charging jack in the remote. Mine takes 20-30 minutes to charge for about five minutes of flight time. I became used to this since the havoc heli takes about an hour to charge.
I did not need any trim when I first lifted off. I used up five minutes of flight time enjoying the stability of this little bird. This heli as good forward and backward, not too fast, not too slow. The left and right yaw is very good. It stops whenever you want it to. I would have recommended this to a friend with no hesitation.
There are some defects out there(as with all rc toys), which is why there are a couple of bad reviews. I purchased mine from [...] with super saver shipping. Xheli has always been a good online shopping seller.
Overall: Buy this, I guarantee it will not dissapoint you.
Excellent and fun product! - Aug 31, 2010
This is my first remote control product that I buy. I did extensive research online and found this product to have the best reviews. It worked perfectly and even on the first few tries I had no problem controlling it. I had to calibrate the remote control slightly according to the instructions to stop the helicopter from revolving - easily done. I was afraid about the helicopter being fragile but other reviews assured me it is not the case. I crashed it a few times and it is still good as new. Most of the crashes occurred while trying to do "fancy" stuff and one really bad crash occurred when the helicopter flew in a restricted and hostile air space (under a working ceiling fan).
It takes about a little over an hour to fully charge the helicopter and I timed it a few times and consistently got 8:00 - 8:30 minutes of flight time each attempt. The helicopter doesn't isn't very fast but then again it is designed for indoors and I can't really compare it with other models as I never had any - but it is fast enough. I guess you can extend the flight time slightly if you disconnect the blinking light bulb.
This product is lots of fun, durable, and cheap - I never knew something like this could cost so little. It becomes a little unstable when flying next to walls and corner but I guess this is due to its light weight and having the wind blow back from the walls/corners. It can't achieve complete stationary status in the air but it is close to it (I don't know if a real helicopter can do that either).
Instructions are simple yet contain bad English and grammar. But overall, for such a fine, fun product at such a price it is definitely worth five stars.
fun indoor flying - Aug 28, 2010
these things are so much fun to mess around with... the other day i laid in bed and flew my chopper around the bedroom like i was eight years old...
fun stuff...
Syma 3 Channel S107 - Aug 27, 2010
I got this for indoor flying although I have used it outside when there is no wind & it works fine. The Syma S107 is much more responsive than other products of this kind that I have used. My cats love watching me fly it I think they get more out of it than I do. There is a small learning curve but all & all it's a great helicopter.
Tons of fun - Aug 26, 2010
Warning: The color of the helicopter you buy may vary. I thought I was getting a red one but got a yellow one. I believe they make a blue one as well. Luckily, I didn't mind anyway. You will need to get 6 AA batteries not included for the controller. You will also need a phillips screw driver to remove the lid to put in the batteries which I found annoying. I am having so much fun flying this all over the house for the last three of weeks and counting. The blades are a little beat up from all my crashes but still hanging in there so far. The charge time for the helicopter via USB to the PC is about 45 min for approx 8 min of flying. For the price, I can't complain. Having never flown an RC helicopter before, there is a learning curve. Landing where you want it is kind of tricky. After a couple of times you'll get the hang of it. This is meant to flown indoors and any type of wind will effect it's flight and make it go out of control. If you fly it around the corner of a wall and the remote would lose sight of the helicopter it would just crash. Overall, I would recommend this just because it's so much fun and not too expensive.
I love this toy - Awesome Buy! - Aug 25, 2010
I bought this for my 9 year old brother's birthday. He's mature for his age but 14+, really? We charged 30 minutes and he caught on flying it right away. It controls easily and we had a blast with it. Not sure if my dad or him liked it more... good for all ages! Awesome!!
Simply the most fun you can have indoors! - Aug 25, 2010
This little copter is a blast to fly. With a couple hours of practice (or minutes if you have the knack), you'll be flying this thing around the house with howls of laughter and enjoyment. "Land it on the TV" or "go under the kitchen table" are the screams you'll be hearing from your kids. "Stay out of the dining room!" will be the screams you hear from your wife or mother. Just watching it hover in front of you, with you at the controls, is a real trip. It recharges fast. Get it, you'll love it.
Better than AirHogs for Sure - Aug 25, 2010
I flew a $25.00 AirHogs Stinger for a couple of weeks and kept thinking, "Man if this thing would just go where I want it to!" I could fly it without crashing, but didn't have a lot of control. It wouldn't hover either.
Enter my yellow Syma S107! WOW - hovers, goes straight forward, backward, tight turns, sweeping turns, even stops it's turn on a dime. Fun to fly and fun to chase the cats with. Super easy; a first time pilot can take off and go with no troubles. My only gripe is the flights last around 5 minutes and the charges take 45. There's no reason to not buy one at this price!
Just don't crash it! - Aug 22, 2010
This helicopter came in perfect condition and very fast thanks to Amazon.com. A few things, for one a 30 minute charge lasts for 5 minutes? Even worse, the parts are made of a flimsy plastic and break almost every time you crash! The frame is the only part of the toy that is made of metal. Repair parts are available, but they're expensive and you never know what part will break next. Last of all, the helicopter is so small that it's fairly hard to handle and some screws are in impossible spots. They don't even give you a repair manual on how to fix it.
I wouldn't recommend this toy.
Exceeds expectations - Aug 22, 2010
This thing is a blast to fly and very durable. A lot of fun. Much easier to fly than I expected. Helicopters have a reputation for being difficult to fly & getting damaged easily. This one does not have those problems.
A lot of fun for $30!! Durable, precise and innovative design - Aug 21, 2010
OK, I've had these $30 helis before. Bought 3 for my 3 boys last year, all of them were hard to control and broke within a month or so. I've now had this Syma Metal Gyro heli for about 4 weeks, and have flown it for at least 25 charge cycles. Love it! Crashed into everything, including my own leg, and it keeps on flying. The designers were smart - the blades are all mounted on pivots so when its not flying they can fold back on themselves (looks kind of funny when you take it out of the box - the blades look like they are not mounted yet). When powered up, centrifugal force keeps them out straight and flying. If you hit something, they don't break, they sort of fold back (also hurts less when it hits your leg!). Of course, with a folded 'wing' you crash, but this thing is so light you just pick it up and start flying again. I remain amazed that anyone can manufacture this thing for $30, tons of aluminum parts, awesome gyro for stability, great looking cowl and flashing LED lights, good transmitter range and decent battery life. Everything is proportional (variable speed, not just on/off) - rotor speed (up/down), rate of rotation (for left/right), and tail rotor speed (tilts the heli for front and back motion). Takes a few runs to learn good throttle control (flying in 3D takes some practice), and maximum forward speed is not fast. But, since I don't want to careen into the back of anyone besides me - that's not a bad thing.
Also - another great design idea - the heli will charge from a USB port, so it just sits by my laptop when I'm charging it. Flies about 7 minutes on a 20 - 30 minute charge (USB). Will also charge from the remote, if you don't have USB handy. Still on the first set of AA batteries in the remote.
This remote is IR - light waves - not radio waves. So, you have to keep line of sight. A couple of times I flew from my living room to the kitchen and watched it die at the far end of the kitchen (~25 feet away) when it lost signal. No damage. Also, watch your fingers, you can cover the transmitter 'window' on the remote, too. There is an ABC channel switch on the remote, and I assume different color (red, yellow & blue) are on different frequencies.
I can land this thing on anything about the size of a magazine, smaller is tougher (practice with a magazine on the floor or a table - gives you somewhere to land if you miss). My kids love to pick it up and let me take off from their hands! Landing on their hands (I've tried many times) is tougher. Some day.
Now they are all learning on mine (it has become the crash trainer, I guess), so we'll be buying 3 more soon! Box says ages 14 and up, my guys are 11 and under. For $30, you won't go wrong - these things are a blast.
Great fun but difficult to control - Aug 19, 2010
This is a great heli and I have such fun playing with it. It has a learning curve so don't think you will open up the package and begin flying like you see in videos. I absolutely recommend this product but I can see an kid under the age of 12 getting frustrated and giving up. 14 and up would be best. Hell I'm 28 and love flying it around the house and driving the wife crazy.
What you wanted the havoc to be - Aug 18, 2010
This is a great helicopter. I have a havoc, which retails around the same price as this heli. However all I can get that havoc to do is hover in place with it's body slowly spinning no matter how I tweak it. Front and back motion with a havoc you can forget about. With this Syma heli I had it going forward and backwards with-in 30 seconds. It hovers easily and the body stays in position with no rotation. The little propeller you can see on the back pushes it forward or back ward. I was circling the room and felt I could place it where ever I wanted with little effort. It is so much easier to control then the havoc and you can truly fly it. The only thing I can not attest to is it's durability. However i can say that it controled so well I never felt I was going to crash it or bump into something actidently, so in that regard I think it should do well. I held off on getting this due to my havoc experiences and not wanting to toss away [...] bucks on something similar, but I agree with all of the otehr postive reviews that this is a far better experience and heli.
Syma S107 Indoor Heli - Aug 18, 2010
Outstanding product! I've had both fuel and electric larger scale RC helicopters and this is a perfect way to relax and/or introduce RC helicopter flying to friends and family. The internal gyro that this heli comes with is definitely worth the small extra price as it flies well indoors and the flashing LED lights are way cool! It looks like something out of the Transformers movies! The USB charger is super convenient as well as being able to have three different channels. You can fly with friends and/or annoy the boss at staff meetings! Quite durable and a perfect first mini indoor heli. Definitely the most fun for the money...I'll buy more of these for my 13 and 15 year olds. A friend also bought one six months ago for his 8-year old son and says he loves it because it's so easy to fly. I only wish it flew a little longer than 4 to 5 minutes and the 45 minute charge time is a bit long but worth the wait. Buy this heli!
Waste of Money - Aug 17, 2010
I have flown several helicopters. I felt this one would be perfect to fly around at work.
After a very short time the remote stopped working and this helicopter became an expensive paper weight..
Thanks for nothing!
Super awesome - Aug 16, 2010
TIP: (Gives you ~5-8 mins of flying time with very high performance) Charge it for a good 2-3 hours then check for the light intensity on the USB, if the light while charging matches the light that the usb gives off while not connected to the heli then its fully charged.
I love it; I had bought a Falcon X Mini and this Syma S107 beats it by far!!!!
Lots of fun, it won't brake ! - Aug 15, 2010
This helicopter is the most durable battery operated toy with moving parts that I've seen. It gave me and my guests hours of entertainment and after approximately 50 recharges, it still works as new. I did lost (broke and then I unscrewed the remaining piece) the tail fin in the process of learning how to operate it (read: abused it), but that didn't affect his performance at all, it actually goes faster forward now.
This is a very well engineered product (amazing for a made in China, inexpensive toy) that will give you many hours of fun. Just watch for those plants.
Excellent Helicopter - Aug 11, 2010
I love this helicopter. Since it has a gyroscope, it is very stable and easy to fly compared to other copters of this type. In fact I gave one to my nephew, who is 7 years old. He is very good with video games. With a little instruction and practice, he is able to fly this copter. The only concern here is that he needed to be monitored because the spinning blades can do some damage to fingers and face. He has had his copter for three days now and it is still in one piece, which shows me that it can take a bit of abuse.
Helicopter - Aug 10, 2010
Item is very durable, crashed helicopter many times but still fly and in one piece.
Very, very impressed! - Aug 07, 2010
Wow...for a grand total of $31.95(including no tax and free shipping) I am blown away by the quality of this heli. Metal body and extremely well built for a $30+ dollar toy. It took all of about 5 mins to unpack and put the batteries in the remote. The heli came with about half a charge in it so I was flying immediately. I adjutsed the trim a tad and it was hovering perfectly in place. Again WOW,WOW,WOW!!! I will definitely by some more helis from Syma. Maybe my next one will be the huge radio controlled, outside model the S032. And that one is only about $60.00!!! This is the PERFECT example of getting WAY more than what you expected.
Best control ever, this thing is PERFECT - Aug 04, 2010
if you have purchased those horrible air hogs from walmart and were dissapointed, then forget about it because THIS HELICOPTER is literally giving perfect control. it goes up in the air like it should and it doesnt spin, it doesnt do anything until you enter a command. you can make it turn right, go forward, go backward, any direction you want. and it goes perfectly. i dont know what this gyroscope techonlogy is but it WORKS. you wont believe how perfectly this thing moves. and you dont need to adjust the trim at all. this thing worked right out of the box perfect
The Gyro Revolution is HERE! - Aug 03, 2010
Forget everything you know about toy helicopters. This is a revolutionary change.
Remember when you used to play with a toy helicopter, and it would spin and spin out of control? Then it would go up, then down, then drop?
Hey how about the helicopter made of cheap plastic that just kind of swirled around the room like it was caught in a fishbowl, and no matter what button you pressed on the remote, all you could do was to make it swirl higher or fall?
Okay, forget that. That's all over now, and forever. This is next-generation technology, and those days are gone for good.
You see, electronic gyroscopes are everywhere now. They're in your iphone. They're in your Nintendo controllers... and now they're in this tiny micro-heli that I cannot possibly call a toy. It's not a toy.
It's actually the best micro heli your money can buy, and it's a STEAL at this price. It would be a steal at $100.
This thing is ROCK solid. Its turns are laser-precise. It's actually the easiest helicopter to fly *because it does what you want*. Which is: HOLD STILL. It actually holds still. It only turns when YOU want it to turn. It only goes forward or backward when YOU want it to. Elevation/throttle is the only thing that isn't auto-corrected, but you'll get the hang of that easily because this baby doesn't drift.
Watching it in mid-air is kind of spooky... it seems alive. It moves with purpose. It's the helicopter you always wanted.
And this baby is made of steel. The blades are plastic, but MEGA sturdy, and hinged. I've crashed it a lot, and not a bit of damage to it. (buy some spare blades just in case) It's steel, so it's sturdy and doesn't float away on the breeze. It charges in about half an hour, and flys for about 8 minutes.
I'd say this is the toy of the year, and if you are even THINKING of getting this for anyone for XMAS, buy it NOW, because these are going to be hard to find once everyone realizes how amazing they are.
Beware of imitations or even other models from this same manufacturer... Make sure you are getting the one with gyros. Because this is the Gyro revolution.
